Degree Program Changes
2006
PSP is evaluating all degree programs and
revising curricula to include remote learning delivery of some courses as well
as extending the tutorial and independent study learning models to more
programs. In June, all current students were sent a letter and annual progress
information with details about these changes. All current students will be able
to finish their contracted academic program, but no new MFT students will be
admitted to PSP effective Summer 2006. Program descriptions for Clinical
Doctoral Programs tailored to the licensed clinician working for advanced
degree will become available Fall 2006. Students who would like to discuss
changes or review current degree requirements may schedule an appointment with
the President, Provost, or Registrar directly through the Course Registration
section of the PSP Website.
Administrative Hours - Tuesday thru
Thursday
Administrative hours of PSP are
Tuesday-Thursday, 10:00-5:00. In keeping with the reorganization of PSP
curricula to use technology to support remote delivery, likewise, PSP
administrative support has been revised to provide services from off-site.
Students may contact administrative staff by e-mail or phone, and will receive
a reply quickly. Faculty will continue to have the option of having
administrative support on Saturday for weekend courses at PSP. Questions about
this change should be directed to Patti
Erck, Office Manager.
Want News? Need E-mail!
Useful information is sent to students
regularly about job opportunities, registration dates, and school news. The
catch? You have to give us a current e-mail address to get this information!
Student e-mails are routinely returned as undeliverable, or students simply
report not getting information. Please send all new contact information (phone,
e-mail, mailing address) to Registrar
Lisa Erck to benefit from student updates If you are an alumni, please
contact Director of Alumni Relations, Wendy Carney.
Psychological Assistant, Sacramento
Practice
Michelina Regazzi, Ph.D. has been licensed
since 1998, is a graduate of CSPP- Fresno, and has a private practice in
Sacramento. She may have an opening this summer for a doctoral level
psychological assistant working towards licensure. The position would be
predominately psychological testing. If you are interested in this possible
opening, you may contact Dr. Regazzi at 916-334-7933 or
regazzi@softcom.net.
Psychological Assistants, Oakland
Practice
PSP Alumnae Dr. Evelyn Sprick is interested
in offering PSP students opportunities to work in her facility. She is
interested in both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students and can supervise.
She practices in the Downtown Oakland Clinic, 616 16th Avenue, which is part of
Lifelong Medical Care Organization (lifelongmedicalcare.org). This is a
community, outpatient clinic with a medical health facility interface. The
patient community is often poor and homeless; typical issues including
danger-to-self, personality disorder, PTSD, and substance abuse. Dr. Sprick
also works with Physician Assistants, and there is the possibility of a
post-doctoral student with DSM knowledge helping in this aspect of the work.
If you are interested, please
call Dr. Sprick directly at 510-451-4270 ext. 4622 or
esprick@lifelongmedical.org.
Dr. Sprick is passionate about her work and highly interested in helping PSP
students.
Dissertation Project Opportunity
Dr. Katherine Kilgore, a PSP Alumnae
(1993), is looking for one or two students in need of a dissertation project.
She has been in private practice since 1995, and focusing on ADD and OCD in
adults. She is interested in developing further a three-page symptoms checklist
diagnostic instrument. She is proposing a project that would involve developing
a more standardized, functional tool.
If you are interested in exploring this
option, please contact Dr. Kilgore, Ph.D, at 916-357-5999 or e-mail
drkmkilgore@comcast.net.
Dissertation Format Manual
Revision
The 2005 Manual had formatting errors in
the appendix samples. If you have a copy of the Manual, please get
this
revised one. The revised manual also reflects minor changes based on 5th
Edition of the APA Publication Manual.
Clinical Psychologist Alumni
For a variety
of reasons, many of our current clinical students are having a very difficult
time finding clinical psychologist supervisors. In some cases, our students
have found adequate clinical work sites, but cannot find psychologists to
supervise their work. New rules at the Board of Psychology allow clinical
supervision to be off site -- the new regulations do not require the clinical
psychologist supervisor to be on site 50% of the time as the old regulations
stipulated. Clinical psychologist supervisors must complete the widely
available six-hour supervision course before supervision can begin. The
regulations continue to state that a psychologist supervisor cannot charge the
supervisee for supervision, and must be an 'employee' of the work site (the
issue for the Board is accountability, not compensation). Many work sites
provide a stipend to a supervising psychologist.
If you are
interested in giving back to the profession and helping our current PSP
psychologist-bound students, please contact Provost Dr. Elizabeth Eubanks at
(916) 641-6542 extension 3, or e-mail her at emeubanks@aol.com
