Master of Arts in Psychology -- Organizational
Tutorial Model

Students who enroll in the Master of Arts in Psychology — Organizational program are typically (a) people who want to gain skills and competencies that will allow them to advance within their current corporate environment, or (b) people who are (or hope to be) internal consultants within their current corporate environment. Persons who are part of a private firm that provides external consultant services to business enterprises tend to seek doctoral level education. This program is designed for students who have experience working in organizations, but not necessarily a background in psychology.

The program builds a master level competency in understanding and intervening at the individual, group, and organizational level. Courses cover both theory and practice. Our faculty offer the combination of extensive first-hand leadership experience and the ability to link their experiences to appropriate theoretical frameworks, research findings and insights gained from consultations in a wide range of organizations.

This tutorial-based Master's program in organizational psychology offers a curriculum that can be completed in 18 months. This degree program is directed toward the educational and training needs of those who wish to function as professional consultants, practitioners, administrators, or leaders in organizational settings. The course of study requires completion of 32 units of core courses, 12 units of field education, and a 4-unit thesis, for 48 units total.

Throughout this tutorial program, students and instructors work together closely through:

  • Tutorial meetings: Each student meets with a PSP tutor with whom the student will interact throughout the program. This tutorial relationship promotes inter-course integration, preparation of the student’s thesis project, and post-graduate career planning, aiding the student to keep on the program schedule.
  • Computer-Based Dialogue: On-line interaction between the student and instructor via internet.
  • Text-Based Collaboration: In-person, telephone-based and e-mail-based interaction between student and tutor to cover material and answer questions;
